Residential Reports

PAY IT FORWARD

Giving back to the community!

The Residential Reports current ‘Without a Roof’ partners are Vinnies Night Patrol & Karinya House– see below for details.  Learn more about “Without a Roof”

Every year we step into hundreds of homes across the city, yet in Canberra there are still so many people living without acceptable, permanent or safe shelter. Whilst we commit our resources to a number of charities throughout the year, our in-house program ‘Without a Roof’ focuses on supporting members of our community who do not have a place to call home. From warm blankets, to food and shelter, or programs to help vulnerable people get back on their feet, a percentage from each inspection we conduct is contributed to ‘Without a Roof’ and periodically donated to make small changes to a big issue in our community.

Vinnie's Night Patrol

Vinnies Night Patrol provides mobile outreach offering refreshments and friendly faces to people on the streets every night of the year. Whilst the service is available to anyone, its primary clients are the homeless, people at risk, both young and old, and those in need, who might not otherwise seek help from the St Vincent de Paul Society or other community or charitable groups.

Karinya House

Karinya House is a very special community based group providing supported accommodation, transitional housing and outreach services to women during and after pregnancy, who are in crisis, often supporting their families alongside. Karinya House recognises and acknowledges the unique lived experiences of women as they navigate building a future for themselves. The frame that they work from is focused on developing a sense of hope and belonging, to effect lasting positive change in the lives of the women and children they support.

sleepbus

Our Autumn/Winter 2021 partner sleepbus provides a safe place to sleep for people without a roof, each sleepbus has a designated parking spot, where it stays for the night from 8pm until 8am; 365 nights a year. Some guests will come directly from referrals of support agencies with any remaining sleep pods allocated on a first come, first serve basis – preferences given to the most vulnerable. The sleepbus team have a combination of paid and volunteer staff assisting with the service each night and we are really excited to have this wonderful organisation currently building a new sleepbus for our region!

The focus is on creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community. Volunteers are not social workers or experts on homelessness – they are empathetic listeners and great conversationalists.

Michael's Dry July

An overwhelming success, our 2018 RR Dry July Campaign saw Michael Hugg our Client Relationship Manager meet with over 200 local agents to raise funds for cancer support. For each agent that appeared in a photo with Michael Residential Reports kicked in $10, with many generous agents matching and raising the bar – we managed to support Michael as he raised over $3000!
